Richards Blog – 20.09.10 – Happy days (or weekends at least!)

Business has been ok lately and weekends particularly busy, for the last 2 Saturdays we have had both the larger coaches on tour so a great bonus towards the end of season! Last week I had a really nice change, I had a group of Railway Enthusiasts from Belgium and Holland for a Cliffs tour on Wednesday and a tour to Listowel in Kerry on Thursday, the purpose of going to Listowel was to look at a very unique railway – The Latigue Monorail, this is a unique attraction which proved to be an absolutely fascinating visit both for me and my group, I could write at length about it but why not check out their website (www.lartiguemonorail.com) for the full story.

The group were all very nice and I suppose being a fellow railway enthusiast helped but whilst I enjoyed showing the group our Cliffs tour Thursday was a special change for me as the group was larger and I hired a full size coach from our friends in Limerick so a change of coach and scenery made it a real tonic for me! I like to keep my hand in at handling a full size coach as our more manageable vehicles make us a bit lazy! One thing I also enjoyed was giving a commentary with a more industrial slant, I have this dream of operating industrial archeology tours for specialist groups one day!

A very unique railway!
